Per Mariam needs your help to continue
With your assistance our reporting can continue – but only through your support and paid subscriptions.
Dear Per Mariam readers,
This website is growing and we need your help!
As noted previously, this site has grown steadily since its very first beginnings in early 2022, and its more official beginning in February 2024. Thanks to your support in reading, sharing articles, and donating, Per Mariam readers have enable the venture to expand more and more.
In February 2024, there were less than 40 subscribers to Per Mariam.
Now though, through the grace of God, there are over 1,500 followers and subscribers to the site, with growth especially notable in recent months. This is a number which some may accurately describe as modest, but given the youth of the site, its small set-up, and the limited time which has previously been available, this growth of Per Mariam is particularly notable.
Per Mariam seeks to be faithful to the Truth who is Christ, and His teachings as proclaimed unchanged throughout the ages.
The team at Per Mariam has this as the foundation of every article: whether it’s a straight news piece, an analysis, an exclusive interview or some treasure from the wealth of the Church’s spirituality and theology.
We don’t approach a story with a predetermined mindset of what the outcome must be in order to fit a narrative. Instead, we seek to practice the truth in charity: searching for the truth of the story and following that through to the conclusion.
In all this, the team approaches each story with the insight gained from years reporting on the Church directly from Rome, with Per Mariam’s Michael Haynes serving as part of the Holy See Press Corps.
We understand that living the truth in charity in Catholic journalism means covering stories which – for various reasons of ‘political’ alignment – other outlets might not.
Per Mariam is funded solely by readers, who see it as a resource they wish to keep alive. Quite simply, without your support, this work wouldn’t be possible and the reports, analyses, and interviews found on these digital pages would not exist.
Throughout this time, Per Mariam has been playing second-fiddle to the daily duties of the small team who keeping it running. That is all going to change with Per Mariam being given priority.
Now we hope to build upon the successes of recent months and truly expand our efforts to bring you reliable, honest and – hopefully – insightful Catholic journalism. Expect to see ever more reporting on the site, as we give Per Mariam the full attention which it deserves, in order to bring you – our readers and paid subscribers – the coverage of stories that matter.
We will avoid clickbait and sensationalism and instead bring you the facts, the context and the analysis.
On these pages readers will be able to find the news straight from the Vatican: complete with all the local context and timeliness that being part of the Holy See Press Corps entails.
In order to do this we need your support!
To all those who have subscribed – a huge thank you! You have helped Per Mariam grow thus far, and are continuing to do so. Please share these articles with friends and family and encourage them to also subscribe.
But the backbone of our support comes from the paid subscribers, because it is genuinely your donation which makes any and all of this possible. By taking out a paid subscription (whether it’s monthly or annually) you enable the tiny team at Per Mariam to bring you the most important stories from across the Church.
If you are able to do so, your support means so much!
To offset the costs we incur, the price of a monthly subscription is rising slightly. For those already with a paid subscription, this should not affect you: and thank you again for your vote of confidence in our reporting.
Should you wish, you can instead take out an annual paid subscription, which is cheaper than paying monthly.
The free subscription lets readers delve into the news and spirituality posts, whilst a paid subscription ensures you access to the all news and spirituality posts, with the addition of all analysis posts and the full archive of articles.
All paying subscribers will be jointly enrolled in the Benedictine Eucharistic Guild at Silverstream Priory in Ireland, where your intentions will be included in in a weekly Mass offered there, in addition to inclusion in the Daily Office of the monks.
In recent years, the team behind Per Mariam have conducted exclusive interviews with a number of prominent and varied members of the hierarchy, ranging from Cdl. Victor Manuel Fernández (Prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith) to Cdl. Raymond Leo Burke.
With your help this work can continue – but it really is only with your support and paid subscriptions that it can do so.
Per Mariam is entrusted to Our Lady of Sorrows, and this new growth is additionally done so invoking the assistance of St. Michael, who exemplified prudence and courage in his actions.
As Per Mariam enters this new phase, we are excited to offer more reporting and to highlight various aspects of the Church and its life which need this attention.
We don’t take anything for granted: indeed every small act of support for Per Mariam is deeply appreciated. Whether it is sharing free articles with your contacts, or taking out a paid subscription, every reader is valued at Per Mariam.
Some changes will be forthcoming about the email delivery system. So far every published article is sent to all your inboxes, but in order not to overwhelm our readers this will be revisited as coverage increases on the site.
We’ll update you with any changes, but to ensure you stay abreast of all our coverage check directly on the website, and if you’re on X then feel free to follow along at:
