First results of SSPX–Vatican talks on February 12
According to the one-page note from the Vatican, the two clerics discussed a wide-ranging number of issues.
(Pelican+) — The first meeting between the Holy See and the Society of Saint Pius X was “cordial and sincere,” but dialogue will only continue if the Society suspends its planned episcopal consecrations, the Vatican stated today.
On February 12 the high-profile meeting between Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández, prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF), and SSPX Superior General Father Davide Pagliarani took place. It was the first time the pair had met since the February 2 announcement by Pagliarani that the Society would hold episcopal consecrations on July 1 this year.
Details of the meeting came via a signed note from Cdl. Fernández – obviously keen to take back ownership of the narrative after the Society stunned the Church and the media with its announcement.
According to the one-page note, the two clerics discussed a wide-ranging number of issues.
